ED03 - Cleaning & Disinfection of Endoscopes
Aims
To outline and provide an understanding of the various stages undertaken in the decontamination of flexible endoscopes within an Endoscope Decontamination Unit (EDU) and to be aware of how effective decontamination enhances patient safety.
Objectives
During this course you will gain an understanding of:
- The process of endoscopic cleaning and disinfection.
- The detail and purpose of the manual cleaning process.
- The different stages of the EWD processes.
- The importance of endoscope lumens and the EWD.
- The various tests involved in the EWD.
