MB01 - Basic Microbiology
Aims
This course will provide learners with information about the fundamentals of microbiology, an understanding of how infections are spread and how to prevent spread of infections.
Objectives
On completion of this module learners will:
- Understand the basics of microbiology and the importance of this in relation to decontamination.
- Understand the difference between gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
- Be aware of pathogens which can cause disease.
- Understand the potential routes of infection and its relevance in helping prevent the transmission of pathogens.
- Understand the importance of an effective decontamination process in preventing transmission of pathogens.
