To ensure the learner understands the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare, in decontamination and in their role. 

Objectives

On completion of this module learners will:

• Understand the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare and how it is managed.
• Understand the implications of HCAI.
• Understand the importance of the decontamination group.
• Understand how IPC is managed in decontamination units.
• Be able to explain the design principles in decontamination units to assist with IPC.
• Understand the importance of PPE.
• Be able to explain how IPC is everyone's responsibility.
