Aims

This course will provide learners with an understanding of the techniques and practices and checks that must be applied in safely handling and storing processed goods in a way that protects their integrity and how this might impact on patient safety.

Objectives

• Understand the role of HBN 13 in planning and designing SSDs.
• Understand how environmental conditions and fittings in the processed goods store contribute to patient safety.
• Understand how the application of best practice in the store impacts on patient safety.
• Describe the practices to be applied when loading shelving trolleys, carts, and transport boxes.
• Be aware of the potential dangers and risks when handling sterile packs.
• Understand the importance of correct labelling on processed goods.
• Understand the use and importance of track and trace systems in the processed goods store.
